Adding Conflict in Romance

The author is a romance writer, but the advice she gives works in any genre. In addition to examples, she explains how to resolve conflict in a believable way while still having the characters work for their happy ending.

  1. You know that line from the movie “Jerry Maguire” – “You had me at hello.”

Well, she had me at “Fiction is all about an emotional journey.” It is exactly what I strive for in my writing – to feel something over the course of a story, and usually that emotional attachment comes from your main character overcoming a challenge or conflict. I agree that this short talk, although directed towards the romance genre, is applicable anywhere and everywhere.

Good find, Robyn, and thanks for sharing 🙂
